Volkswagen hopes to begin recall in January

Volkswagen Group Ireland chief executive Lars Himmer hopes to begin recalling cars affected by the firm’s emissions cheating scandal in January. Mr Himmer says the firm will present a remedy to its emissions-cheating software for affected 2-litre diesel engines to authorities today. However, this will still need to undergo validation testing and approval, which may take up to three months.
